My suggestions to update links on CMC and Coingecko EOS pages

Hi everyone, I am currently looking for ways to optimize the user onboarding on EOS and realized that the EOS coin page on Coinmarketcap and Coingecko are not up to date.
In this post I list which links I feel we can ask them to add / remove on these pages. The main purpose of this post is obviously to discuss together about these links, so feel free to correct me if you feel like I proposed something wrong or missed something important :slightly_smiling_face:
Being a new user I can’t post more than 2 links so I had to remove all the “.com”, “.org”, “.io” from the links.

1. On Coinmarketcap
Links :

  • Add eoscommunity
  • Add blockone
  • Explorers :
    • Remove eospark
    • Add eosauthority
  • Community :
    • Remove bitcointalk
    • Add forums eoscommunity
    • Twitter link leads to B1’s twitter account → maybe create a Twitter account ran by the community or link to another Twitter account ?

Wallet page :

  • Add greymass.com/en/anchor/
  • Add getwombat
  • Add eos-account-creator
  • Remove some of the wallets on the page that aren’t directly linked to EOS ?

2. On Coingecko
Links :

  • Website :
    • Add eoscommunity
    • Add blockone
  • Explorers :
    • Remove eospark
  • Wallets :
  • Community :
    • Add forums eoscommunity
    • Twitter account also linked to B1’s → other option possible ?

They surely could use an update. CMC is owned by Binance. So not sure if they want to change anything they wrote?

On coingecko they are maybe more willing to change something? Anyway good to keep trying!

I like your links. Links I often use on Reddit as well are the following:

I agree. I will get someone to do this. Thanks

Actually I will try to reach out to CMC and Coingecko to see if I would have some success

Ty guys, I’ll also email them. The more the better

I have secured EosMainnet.io if it’s required

Hello !

It is an excellent idea.

Users should also be redirected to EOS community sites as well as media like EOS Go.

And maybe telegram links?

This could be interesting and dynamize the reception portals to the EOS community.

Thank you !

All official websites for onboarding and support should point to eoscommunity.org and forums.eoscommunity.org. Telegram should be removed because of all the ongoing scams or at least given a warning how one get scammed on telegram when somewhere linked

I think the community really needs to get out of telegram ASAP. The amount, intensity and sophistication level of thievery around Telegram has never been measured but I guarantee is very well underestimated. Every new telegram channel the community creates is another opportunity for scammers to gather precious information about newbies, profile pictures, and pretty much everything is being done here. Even jargon is being imitated by scammers.

I, as a newbie, almost miraculously, managed to evade at least 10 robbers, operating in coordination yesterday, when I was asking for help to stake my EOS for REX. They even led me to a fishing site identical to the one from a prominent EOS wallet. Everywhere I clicked, the site asked me for my PK.

So, my point is that, given we all know the over-abundance of scammers around here in telegram, it’s getting pretty irresponsible from our part to keep using it and promoting it in main stream sites such as Coinmarketcap.

As an example of the opportunity cost we are incurring at, look at the responses Jordan Peterson got when asked about Eden.

The vast majority of them, by default, assumed Eden was a scam. It is easy for us to just tag those responses as hate speech. However, who the hell can know how many people, initially interested in EOS, fell victim of so many robbers and left, convinced that EOS itself perpetrated the scam.

Coingecko and CMC didn’t change anything after I asked them to update links via email :’(
I don’t know how we can get them to do anything

I agree, I also think that from a pure user experience perspective Discord would be better. Wax does it for example and it looks very nice

Someone on Reddit made CMC update the old Twitter handle within 2 days and CMC even took the time to email him back to let him know: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/eos/social/

He contacted CMC over the following link and requested the change:
https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Awesome ! Will follow that closely
